My three suitcases would contain interaction, patient, and organization. I think collectively these three things would be the most effective in my teaching techniques because you need to be organized in order to interact with your students in a positive way or it might seem like chaos and they might not get the point. Interaction is key because it allows us to really understand one another and our learning habits, and in that, Patience is key. You need to be patient because everyone will learn in different styles.
i believe that we must have many different things to be a great teacher. i think the most important is porbably your style, giving fun and hands-on learning and finally being able to deliever the information to the students with great effect.
I would say that of the possible characteristics on the list, the tree I would choose would be: Interactive, Patient, and Focuses on Teaching. Interacting with your students means that you take an interest in their lives, knowing their style of learning, the rate they learn at and what they know. With this information you are better able to cross the barrier between student and teacher while gaining their admiration and respect. Patients comes hand in hand with dealing with any group of students as the teacher you're the expert and sometimes you think the students should know something just like you, but you have to have patients to take a few back steps and make sure everyone is on the same page. Not to mention the assemblies and fire drills and numberous daily interuptions that will put a kink in your day. The last and most important is the teaching its self. Being interactive and patient are only the tools you use for your major goal of teaching. The ability to redirect and focus back on teaching is a refined skill that benefits the students greatly.
Re: to Katy O.
I agree with each of your choices, two of them were my own. We differed on organization. I suppose the reason I chose not to pack that quaility woul dbe because I'm not very organized. I think in the future I should pay more attention to that trait because it is a weakness of mine and a good teacher can't function without it.
The three traits that I would choose to be the most important to being an effective teacher are being interactive, energetic, and patient. Students won't learn anything if they don't feel like the teacher is interacting with them and including them in the lesson. Being energetic is also important because students get bored very easily with a teacher that doesn't seem interested in the material either. finally, it is extremely important to be patient. Not all students learn at the same pace so an effective teacher ensures that all students are involved and understand what is being taught.
Hello, this is Rebecca Peddicord. In my three suitcases would be patience, enegetic, and not afraid to make mistakes. In my opinion patience is one of the most important if not the most important qualities of an effective teacher. I would bring energy with me because if I am consumed with the subject I'm teaching my students will follow along which makes learning more effective and fun. The last thing I would take along would be the ability to not be afraid to make mistakes because I struggle with that a lot and in order to be an effective teacher I need to learn to make mistakes and better myself through them.
Hey Julie, this is Rebecca Peddicord. I agree on all of your suitcases, especially the patience and energetic parts that you decided to include. It's true that without these two qualities you would not have the respect or attention of your students. I know that my favorite teachers were always patient with each one of their students, and their energy inspired each person with me in the class to really become engrossed in the topic of study.
It seems like pretty much everyone agrees that patience and interacting with your students are the two most important traits of an effective teacher. This means that these will be the two things I focus on when I practice my teaching methods.
Hi I'm Tony Blecher and in my three suitcases would be 1.) humor, because humor grasps the students' attention 2.)knowledge, because i want to effectively teach my students, and 3.) creativity, just to keep my class interesting and different.
Hey Julie, it's Tony. go figure lol. i just wanted to say that i like your ideas about your suitcases and that i know you will be a very effective teacher. I've known you long enough, and been in calculus long enough to know you're good at helping others. since you've already blogged twice, i doubt you'll read this, but i'll tell you about it anyways =]. ok, good night everyone
Greetings I am Derek LeMarr
Three important things about treaching are
1. Being Willing to change for your students(Teaching is all about the students and making sure they get the work; not you)
2. Being Prepared(One must be prepared as to not allow themselves to fall behind)
3. Making learning fun(that way your students want to learn more and pick it up better)
Tony I like what you thought about teaching, and agree with you
If truth be told I agree with most everyone on the page.

hey my name is jenny i am from st.charles west i am taking this class through my high school.. i am in color guard
I was unable to watch the video on youtube, for i do not have internet, and the school has blocked youtube from the public computers. However i do believe school can destroy creativity, but that is why it is up to us furture teachers to place the fire back into the students, for school has the ability to make you take classes you do not wish to take, and then the teacher may act like all that matters is the grade. Now that is important, but the grade is not everything. We must teach our students, and not force them to memorize, for that is not truly learning. it is up to the teachers to place the creativity back into students. that is what i believe.
